Hi, I’m Annette – a passionate dyslexia specialist who’s had the joy of working with children in all sorts of settings, from schools and hospitals to community centres and literacy clinics. I believe every child learns in their own unique way, and I love working closely with professionals like educational psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists to support the whole child. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to be part of some wonderful projects, including:

  • Collaborating with Dr Angela Webb to develop tools that support visual perception and pre-writing skills
  • Setting up a children’s nursery from scratch – building it from the ground up!
  • Providing care as an emergency foster parent for children and young adults in need
  • Creating a fun educational spelling game to help children enjoy learning. Find out here about the game.

It’s been a heartfelt journey, and I’m so grateful for every child and family I’ve worked with along the way.

My Spelling Game

To make learning more engaging and fun for children, I developed a hands-on educational spelling game designed to reinforce common spelling patterns in a playful, low-pressure way. The game combines visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic elements, helping children build confidence with tricky words while having fun. It’s especially helpful for learners who benefit from repetition, movement, and interactive learning—and it’s been a favourite among students who previously found spelling frustrating or overwhelming.

Testimonials

I have known Annette as a colleague and have worked with her in different schools and settings for over 15 years. I consider her to be trustworthy, conscientious, kind and caring.
Annette will create and put in place her own teaching programme tailored to the individual profile of each child that she teaches. In order to do so, Annette uses her professional qualifications, a wide range of well researched materials, many years of teaching experience and her deep understanding of how children learn. She will work in collaboration and alongside other professionals, such as Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists, creating a team if required. Annette will guide parents ,caregivers and other teachers on the best way to support the individuals educationally and emotionally.
Annette’s creative spirit will inspire and motivate each individual child to learn using art, drama, games and a wide range of multi- sensory activities.

Annette really has done a fantastic job of supporting Tilly. She worked really hard to build a rapport with Tilly and make the lessons fun and enjoyable.
The switch it card games have provided a fun and easy way for us at home to help Tilly build her phonics and spelling skills which means she has reached the expected level for her age.
Annette has such a kind and caring manner and we are so grateful for the support she has given Tilly. Tilly would still be struggling without Annette’s brilliant teaching and encouragement and we are very grateful.

Annette helped both my daugher and son with their dyslexia. They responded to her teaching like seeds to water. They blossomed, making rapid progress, enjoying their lessons, and taking pride in their progress. They are now both willing readers. My daughter writes for pleasure.
